Mondello

Mondello

Mondello is a fraction and tourist location nestled between Monte Pellegrino and Monte Gallo, just a few kilometers from Palermo.

Separated from the chaos of the city, thanks to a green lung formed by the Parco della Favorita, the fishing village is accessible via numerous tree-lined royal avenues or secondary connections, either by car or bus.

The area is renowned for its large beach, one of the most sought-after resorts in Palermo, thanks to its many Liberty-style villas, known as the best expression of Art Nouveau in Italy, and for its historical and naturalistic sites, including access to the Capo Gallo Nature Reserve.

A major tourist destination and famous high-end dining location is the Ex Charleston Bathing Establishment, an elegant construction immersed in the water, designed by architect Rudolf Stualker, who created a large platform on stilts.

Sports, sea, music, and culture – the Mondello Gulf hosts nationally renowned festivals and events. Among the most notable: the "Windsurf World Festival," renamed in 2001 as the World Festival on the Beach, an event that annually gathers various sports events from windsurfing to beach volleyball and musical performances, and the "Premio Mondello," established in 1975, a literary festival now organized by the Sicilia Foundation together with the Turin International Book Fair, which over the years has seen winners such as Daniele Del Giudice, Aldo Busi, and Edoardo Albinati.

Since 2016, Mondello Beach has been awarded the Green Flag for being child-friendly.

The characteristic beach folklore, with the smell of sweet fried doughnuts and the colors of the typical panelle and crocchè, combined with the scents of a unique fishing village, make Mondello an unmissable location.
